For the last three days I've been trying to send via Compuserve a message I composed in Tel Aviv. Every attempt results in an extended pause after 4076 characters have been transmitted. Compuserve times out during that extended pause. Last time this happened, the last message come to think of it, I had to split it in two. However, until CIS gets their house in order and when I'm at home, I'm using Eudora instead of CIM and going through the Eugene Free Net. So, the format of this message may appear a little different than that you're used to. Let me know if there's any drastic change...like unwanted carriage returns, etc.
The captain on the Tel Aviv trip was an interesting fellow. He is, arguably, Morris Nachtomi's favorite captain. He's very experienced considering he's only in his late 40s (though he looks older than I, probably because he's spent his life flying internationally). He flew the airplane for the latest work Tower did for the movie industry. This Christmas there's supposed to be a movie out starring Ben Cross that involves a 747 hijacking. Cross plays a Tower 747 captain that helps a flight attendant land another 747 (actually another Tower airplane painted up as “AFC”). I'll of course go see it.
The movie was “Turbulence” and was released in 1997. I never did go to see it. According to IMDB it was not a critical or financial success. And Ben Cross was a supporting actor, not a lead actor.
I'm now less than two weeks from surviving probation. I'm not expecting to get hit, but you never know. I have a plan though if I do get dropped. American International Airways contacted me yesterday. They're the ones that were at one time interested in using my weight & balance software but decided not to. They're interested again. If Tower drops me, I'll hit up AIA for a captain's job. <g>
