Sheraton Aerogulf Hotel, Luxembourg, Sunday, 1999-07-25 23:00 local (Z+2)

Hello, All,

A rolling delay. Over the years I have come to greatly dislike that phrase.

Welcome once again to my last few days in never-never land. You may recall that I was supposed to leave Luxembourg for Accra yesterday. That was Plan A, it didn't happen, the airplane broke in Africa. It was to take approximately twenty-four hours to get it fixed and back on it's way to Luxembourg.

Plan B was to leave today for Accra. That also did not happen. The airplane had to be ferried to JFK because it couldn't be fixed in Africa.

Plan C was for Cargolux to give the Accra trip to somebody other than Tower and have Tower do a trip tomorrow morning, Monday. My part of the trip would have been to take the airplane to Sal Island off Cape Verde on the West African coast, and get off there for a thirty-two hour layover while another crew took it on to Curitiba, Brazil and back to Sal Island, where I would bring it back to Luxembourg. The first part of Plan C worked; Cargolux did give the Accra trip to someone else. However, I will not be taking the airplane to Sal Island tomorrow morning because the airplane is still in maintenance at JFK. It is now projected to arrive here at 06:00 local Tuesday.

So, Plan D: same thing as Plan C except departure will be 09:00 Tuesday morning. Maybe.

If it all works, I'll get home on the 31st. And on August 1 I will start my retirement by, among other things, lying in the sun in our parking lot! Weather permitting, of course.

In the meantime I have to keep eating, and I have figured out that my average meal in this place is costing me $22.86, compliments of the fact that my only choices within walking distance are the hotel, an upscale Chinese restaurant, and the airport terminal, and the terminal has no snack shops, only a full and rather fancy restaurant.
